Gallery
Special Collections of the National Agricultural Library continues to
build a web-based gallery of images to illustrate and share the richness
of our collections. For more images and exhibits from the National Agricultural

Maryland Agriculture Exhibit! This exhibit highlights four themes in the history of Maryland agriculture with materials selected from the Archives and Manuscripts Department of the University of Maryland Libraries:
- The University of Maryland's Extension Service hosted the Rural Women's
Short Course from 1923 through the late 1970s. Every summer, farm women
from throughout Maryland would gather for a week of courses, demonstrations,
and events.
- Another program organized by UM's Extension Service is Maryland 4-H,
a program to educate youth in practical matters such as agriculture,
home economics, and citizenship.
- Three Maryland families are showcased in Family Farms: The Brooke Family of Baltimore County, the Shipley Family of Anne Arundel County, and the Davis Family of Frederick County.
- The Maryland State Grange and Patrons of Husbandry began with 110 granges across the state in 1874, and the group remains active today.
