Both War Years exhibits were featured at celebrations of the fiftieth
reunion of alumni who graduated from the University of Maryland from
1943 to 1947. Many students were off fighting in World War II; consequently,
these graduating classes were relatively small, and the Office of
Alumni Programs decided to bring them together as one group to celebrate
their fifty years as Terrapins. The exhibits, installed in a day-long
hospitality suite where alumni could meet and greet their classmates,
focused on highlights of the war-time period on campus, including
important buildings, faculty, staff, sports, special events, and big-band
dances.
