The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics was established in 1896 to support and promote athletics at the University of Maryland. The record books in this collection include team rosters, scores, and schedules and document the history of a number of athletic teams on the College Park campus. The signature book included in the records dates from 1952, the year the university's football team won the Sugar Bowl, and includes inscriptions from team members.
