Circulation, Reserves, and Interlibrary Loan

Circulation

  • Books: The Art Library follows the University of Maryland Libraries' general circulation policies.
  • Art Reproductions: Two-week loan period; other policies regarding use are the same as those of the other University of Maryland Libraries.
  • Picture File: One-week loan period; other policies regarding use are the same as those of the other University of Maryland Libraries.

Reserves

To make required course readings accessible to all students, materials may be placed on reserve. Reserves for lower-division undergraduate courses (numbered 100-299) are handled by McKeldin Library, while the Art Library handles reserves for upper-division and graduate courses (numbered 300 and above). The Art Library's Reserve Guidelines are sent to faculty at the end of each semester for preparation of the next semester's course reserves. For further information, contact the Reserves Supervisor at (301) 314-7452.

The loan period for reserve materials is two hours with a 24-hour option available on request. Reserve books can be borrowed overnight. These may be checked out no earlier than two hours before closing, and must be returned one hour after the Art Library reopens the following day.

More information on course reserves throughout the University of Maryland Libraries is available.

Interlibrary Loan

The UM Libraries Interlibrary Loan Office can obtain books, periodical articles, dissertations and other materials not held in the University System of Maryland Libraries. More information and an online Interlibrary Loan Request Form are available.
