Charles E. White Memorial Chemistry LibraryCollection and Location
The Charles E. White Memorial Chemistry Library is a collection of 80,000 volumes covering chemistry, biochemistry, cell biology, enzymology, immunology, microbiology, and molecular genetics. The collection consists primarily of materials to support upperclass, graduate and research programs.
The Library receives nearly 450 journals and newsletters, as well as the print version of Chemical Abstracts. New journal issues are displayed separately on the main floor for one day and then are shelved alphabetically by title with other current issues. Bound volumes are shelved by title on the middle and lower floors.
The Library has extensive collections of spectra published by the Aldrich Chemical Company, Sadtler Research Laboratories, Texas A&M University, and the American Petroleum Institute.
The present Library was dedicated in 1976. Dr. White, for whom it was named, graduated from the University and was a member of the Chemistry Department faculty from 1926 to 1969. He was department chair from 1960 to 1967.
The Library is located in Room 1526 in the Biochemistry Wing of the Chemistry Building. It is accessible from the street, Regents Drive, and from the Chemistry Building. A map showing its location on campus and which provides information on traveling to the Library is available. Information on services to persons with disabilities is also available.
A graphic showing White Memorial Library floor plans is available.
