How to Place Materials on Reserve:
Guidelines for Instructors

Horizontal Rule

Faculty members or teaching assistants may place course-related items on reserve. Forms are available online, or at the Information/Circulation Desk, or by campus mail from the Library (telephone 405-9078).

If possible, lists of items to be placed on reserve should be submitted several weeks before the beginning of the semester. Lists will be accepted at any time, but there may be delays in processing the lists and/or obtaining the materials, especially during the first weeks of the semester.

The following types of material may be placed on reserve:

  • Required reading for courses
  • Books from the White Library collection or from any library on campus
  • Books provided by the instructor
  • Copies of articles or portions of books, supplied by the instructor
The following materials may not be placed on reserve:
  • Textbooks, unless the text is temporarily unavailable at the Bookstore
  • Any materials that will not stand on the shelf, such as folders, soft-cover notebooks, single journal issues
