Meeting Minutes
August 31, 2004

1.  Project MUSE pricing
    Betty shared information about changes to Project MUSE pricing and content.  The USM Council of Library Directors 
has paid for the basic JHU Press MUSE package in the past.  They will meet later in September to decide what they 
will fund given the changes in the MUSE title packages and pricing.
    College Park will continue its current MUSE full collection subscription, regardless, but coming up 
with money to begin funding MUSE on our own may have ramifications.
    CMT will discuss how to fund the Duke University Press titles that are leaving MUSE at a future meeting.

2.  Big Ticket purchases status report
    Evans Digital should already be live.  ArtSTOR, Kirk-Othmer Encyclopedia of Chemical Technology and 
the Compendex Backfile: 1884-1969 should be accessible soon.

3.  Develop team member rotation plan
    Subject librarian members of CMT will meet with Karla each March to discuss possible changes in CMT 
membership/collaborative leadership. Changes will be made with the fiscal calendar and every attempt will be
made to stagger the rotation within each collaborative.  Efforts will be made to have term lengths that will 
accommmodate both members/leaders as well as the needs of CMT.

4.  Review searching procedures during ordering process
    Jan reported that Acquisitions does not search music cd's, musical scores, CJK publications, or non-print material.  
Acquisitions does search everything else to avoid purchasing duplicates (by searching in the PAC) and to 
complete bibliographic information that may be missing from the MRF (by searching WorldCat).  MRF's submitted 
with Blackwell slips are searched in Collection Manager to be sure a copy won't be coming automatically or has 
already been ordered and to order a US edition instead of a UK one if it's available.
    CMT will share this information with the collaboratives in case it will reduce duplicative searching.
