1. Topic: Agenda review

Outcome: No changes

2. Topic: FY04 Database usage stats

Betty distributed two database usage statistics spreadsheets (5 years worth of Cost per Search data and electronic Resource Expenditure) for discussion and possible renewal review. Databases with per cost searches of more than $1 have frequently been targeted for additional promotion and/or evaluation for renewal.

Outcome: Betty will update the spreadsheet to correct minor errors discovered in the discussion and notify colleciton managers when the spreadsheet is posted on the web.

3. Topic: Dictionary of National Biography

Outcome: We will purchase DNB as one-time print by combining funds from Reference, gift accounts, and several ArHu team members funds. This will provide a year's free internet access. DNB will go into the Big Ticket process to be reviewed for ongoing annual electronic access. CMT will also look at it's serials funds with an eye toward possible cancellations to fund big ticket items late in the Spring

5. Topic: Announcements

  • Taylor & Francis have begun archiving with the Dutch National Library. Their publications might now be considered as candidates for e-only 2006 migration. (Betty)
  • The Nature package has increased about 42% for the four schools buying it through USM. It is still cheaper for UM to subscribe through the consortium ($20,500) than alone ($31,880). (Betty)
  • Both Blackwell purchase plan and firm order shipments are continuing to experience problems. Karla will be having a conference call to discuss their situation in greater detail. (Karla)
  • Karla met with IRST on Big Ticket process. (Karla)

6. Review meeting process and plan for next meeting:

  • Tanner Wray will discuss MOSS issues raised by AST.
  • Kluwer-Spring-Brill consortium offer to USM. Prework is forthcoming.
  • Mass deacidification. New developments with LC may result in new prioritization process for UMCP. Nonetheless, bring call numbers if you have them.

Next meeting: Tuesday, November 9, 1:30-3:00 in McKeldin 7113

Pending:

  • Deacidification priorities
  • Purchase plan review procedures
