Collection Management Team Minutes
April 5, 2005 1:30- 3:00 p.m., McKeldin 7113

Present: M. Burright, B. Day, Z. Diaz, J. Miller, J. Siar, S. Van Sant
Absent: K. Hahn, T. Johnson, H. Pedersoli
Roles: Facilitator: Betty; Notetaker: B. Schuster

1. Topic: Agenda review

Outcome: No changes

2. Topic: Renewal of e-resources managed by CMT

Discussion of July 1 database renewals and LexisNexis African American Primary Sources/Black Thought and Culture proposal from USMAI/USMERC.

Outcome: CMT decided to keep change the number of simultaneous users for Social Sciences Abstracts to 8 and to change the number of simultaneous users for General Sciences Abstracts to 1 if price savings could be realized. Based on usage statistics, number of turnaways and the advice of subject librarians, no negative impact on users is anticipated. Use will continue to be monitored. Betty will follow up with price information.
CMT did not endorse the suggestion from another USMAI institution that the Council of Library Directors’ subscription to LexisNexis African American Primary Sources be cancelled (because LN does not give us usage data for this database) and substituted with a subscription to Alexander Street Press’s Black Thought and Culture.
