Collection Management Team Minutes

1. Topic: Agenda review

Outcome: No changes.

2. Topic: Paperback Preferred for Firm Orders Proposal

Guest: Yvonne Carignan

Outcomes: Reviewed ramifications of various binding methods. Clothbound books are not all inherently better, from a preservation standpoint, than well-bound paperback books. Paperbacks are automatically bound based on preservation considerations decision tree. Acquisitions practices will be altered to match purchase plan: paperbacks will now be the edition firm ordered, not the clothbound.

3. Topic: Interim Head of Acquisitions

Outcomes: Sally Sinn will begin as Head of Acquisitions on August 7.

4. Topic: FY07 Budget

Outcomes: Selectors will receive a brief message to forward to faculty as soon as it is available. Selectors will also receive dynamic spreadsheets on which to finalize cancellations. These must be returned ASAP, by September 8, at the latest.

5. Topic: Announcements

Outcomes:In house BNA training next week: August 2, 1:30-3:00pm, Room 2109, and August 3, 10:00-11:30am, Room 2109.

6. Topic: Review meeting process and plan for next meeting
