Present: Connors, Hammett (Facilitator), Linebaugh, Rough, Sakaguchi (Notetaker), Tanaka, Vikor

1. No change to agenda items.

2. Background Briefing

Kevin briefed the group on training and orientation needs for staff members of Special Collections. Kevin also identified  commonalties of the Special Collections' and distributed the list he compiled to the group. Tom added "shared dedications" as a Special Collections background culture. All agreed that there is no cross the board training for the SC staff members and  an orientation program  would  benefit  everyone.

3. Based on the background briefing, and Kevin's SC commonality document the group discussed the followings:

1)       Intent of the team--how sections to interact/better referral system for SC patrons/identify common and in-depth duties of SCs. / identify the nature of  services / how to overcome physical locations ( East Asia , Non Print)

2)      Identify types and levels of training required--e.g. MD room training/opening & closing procedures/orientation needs.

3)      Nature of the team --semi permanent / we meet less when nothing to discuss.  All agreed that we meet regularly once a month.

4)      All agreed the group's mission and vision are same as stated in the SC Working Group Report.

5)      Tom circulated the ARL training document as a background reading. http://www.arl.org/collect/spcoll/SCTF.ED.pdf
