About East Asia Collection

Established in 1965, The University of Maryland Libraries East Asia Collection is a unique department located in McKeldin Library. The East Asia Collection is a library of over 100,000 catalogued books, reference materials, and periodicals written in Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. The holdings span the humanities, social sciences and particularly emphasize the history and literature of East Asia. Each year, over 800 periodical titles and 300 different yearbooks and annual reports are received. In addition, the collection also contains over 1,500 volumes of Western-language reference works that were acquired primarily to support the university’s teaching and research programs. The collection is under the care of a curator who is a specialist in the field of East Asian studies.

Our latest acquisition is China Academic Full Text Journal Database; it contains more than 627 journals. The access is available from: Research Port http://www.lib.umd.edu/ then go to "Asian Studies", then to Chinese Studies.
