Borrowing Materials

EPSL follows the circulation policies of the UM Libraries. See UM Circulation for information on renewing, recalling, and other circulation services. Information on Eligible borrowers, privileges, and loan periods is also available. Please note the following important procedures:
  • Bound and unbound journals do not circulate. However, faculty, staff and graduate students may borrow these items for up to four hours (no overnight loans) after filling out a loan slip at EPSL Circulation Desk.

  • Reference materials do not circulate. EPSL Reference Librarians may issue special permission to allow these items to circulate to graduate students or faculty for a short period of time, on a case-by-case basis.

  • UMCP student ID cards are not transferable. However, faculty members may loan their ID cards to family members, graduate assistants, etc., with the understanding that the faculty member is personally accountable for all materials borrowed on their card. If your ID is lost or stolen, the Libraries must be notified immediately.

Course Reserves

Upon request of the instructor, books containing required readings are kept at EPSL Circulation Desk and are available for two hour loans during the semester. EPSL allows instructors to place notebooks containing class notes, homework solutions, sample exams, and other items on reserve.

EPSL Circulation Staff may reduce the loan period for course reserve materials during high-use periods. Valid UMCP identification must be presented to borrow any reserve items. For more information, see the UM Libraries' course reserves policies for students or the EPSL's course reserves guide for instructors.
