Accessing Elsevier MDL DiscoveryGate at UM
Instructions for Accessing DiscoveryGate from a UM Libraries Computer Terminal
Go to http://www.discoverygate.com to begin your session.RECOMMENDED PC USERS: IE 6.0 SP1 for Windows 2000 SP1 and 6.0 SP2 for Microsoft Windows XP SP2; Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.0 or higher
RECOMMENDED FOR MAC USERS: Mac 10.4 or higher; Safari 2.0; Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.0 or higher
Instructions for Installing DiscoveryGate from ON CAMPUS
1. Please review the System Requirements for DiscoveryGate.
2. Please review DiscoveryGate Installation and Configuration Procedures.
3. Go to https://www.discoverygate.com.
4. Make sure your system is set up accordingly and download software.
5. Save the installer file to your Desktop.
6. When the download is complete click on the link to close the download center.
7. Close all Internet Explorer windows.
8. Run the installer. The installer will install JRE 1.4.2_06 (if not already present), IMRW, and the DiscoveryGate jar files including the most recent version of MDL� Draw.
9. Open Internet Explorer and start DiscoveryGate using the following URL
10. When returning to DiscoveryGate please use the following URL https://www.discoverygate.com click "Home" on the right hand side of the screen. Begin your session.
Instructions for Accessing DiscoveryGate from OFF CAMPUS
To access DiscoveryGate from off campus you must have VPN installed on your computer. To install VPN on your computer please follow these directions:http://www.helpdesk.umd.edu/documents/4/4052/.
To install DiscoveryGate, execute the following steps:
1. Turn on VPN. Choose the "UMD-Wireless" option when connecting.
2. Please review the System Requirements for DiscoveryGate.
3. Please review DiscoveryGate Installation and Configuration Procedures.
4. Make sure your system is set up accordingly and download software.
5. Save the installer file to your Desktop.
6. When the download is complete click on the link to close the download center.
7. Close all Internet Explorer windows.
8. Run the installer. The installer will install JRE 1.4.2_06 (if not already present), IMRW, and the DiscoveryGate jar files including the most recent version of MDL� Draw.
9. Open Internet Explorer and start DiscoveryGate using the following URL https://www.discoverygate.com and click "Home" on the right hand side of the screen. Begin your session.
11. When returning to DiscoveryGate turn on VPN, then use the following URL https://www.discoverygate.com and click "Home" on the right hand side of the screen. Begin your session.
