Downloading References from the Libraries' Catalog

To download records from the catalog, search the catalog from within Endnote or ProCite.

EndNote users:
  1. You need a connection file for the catalog saved in your EndNote Connections folder. When prompted to open or save the file, save it to your Program Files/Endnote/Connections folder.
  2. In Endnote, go to Tools > Connect > Connect ? and choose the USMAI connection file
  3. A search window will open and you can type in your search terms.
  4. Use the "Copy reference to" button at the top of the results list to add the records to your EndNote library.
ProCite users:
  1. Go to Tools > Internet Search. In the bar above the search boxes, click on the Hosts button.
  2. At the bottom of the Internet Hosts window, click on the Configure Hosts button.


  3. Click on the New Hosts button on the right.
  4. Fill out the boxes in the Host configuration screen as below and click OK:


  5. Fill out the Database Properties screen as below and click OK:


    You've now set up ProCite to connect to the catalog.

To start searching the catalog:
  1. Go to Tools > Internet Search. Then click on the Hosts button and check the box before the USMAI catalog. Click OK.
  2. Type in your search terms and click on the Search button. The search results will appear on the screen. Mark the records you want to save to a database file by clicking on the checkbox next to those records.
  3. To move those records to a database, go to Database > Copy Marked Records and then select the database you want the records saved in.
