Linking to Find It from EndNote

What is Find It and why would I want to link to it?

Find It is the Libraries' full text linking system. You've probably seen the Find it button in databases and may have used it to locate articles through links to full text, the catalog, or Interlibrary Loan forms.

You can put Find It links in your EndNote records so that you can easily link to the online full text or catalog record for an item.

Setting up the Find It links in EndNote

You need: EndNote version 7 or later

  1. Open EndNote. Go to Edit > Preferences.
  2. Select OpenURL from the list on the left. Click on the checkbox for "Enable OpenURL"
  3. In the OpenURL Path, enter: http://sfx.umd.edu:9003/cp
Leave the default information for Arguments.

  4. Click OK.

Using Find It links

  1. Once you've updated your Preferences as above, open a library.
  2. To link to Find It from a reference, first double-click on the reference to open it.
  3. Then go to Reference > OpenURL Link. A Find It window should automatically open. If full-text is available from the Libraries, a link will be available. You may also see links to the catalog or Interlibrary Loan.
Please note, full-text links only work on campus, or while you are using VPN.
