P.L. 110-251 :Kendell Frederick Citizenship Assistance Act This law is intended to simplify the process by which enlisted personnel may become naturalized American citizens by allowing biometric information, such as finger prints, collected at the time of enlistment to be used to satisfy the naturalization background check requirement. It also directs the Secretary of Homeland Security to determine the format of the biometric information to be collected, and to designate appropriately secure mechanisms for the transmission of that information. The Secretary is also instructed to provide information on all appropriate web sites regarding resulting changes in naturalization policies and proceedures.
