Research and InstructionREFERENCEU.S. Government Information, Maps & GIS Services provides access to nearly two million government publications and more than 350,000 topographic and thematic maps spanning a period of over 200 years and a range of subjects. Research assistance is available in person at our reference desk, located on the 4th Floor West of McKeldin Library, govdocs@umd.edu or 301.405.9165. Reference librarians are also available for a research consultation by appointment. COURSE-RELATED INSTRUCTIONU.S. Government Information, Maps & GIS Services provides a wide range of instructional services to assist students, faculty and staff in learning how to take advantage of rapidly changing government information resources and research tools. Librarians work with faculty to tailor library and information resources instruction to specific courses and to assist in creating workable library assignments. GIS WORKSHOPSU.S. Government Information, Maps & GIS Servicesalso offers workshops throughout the year on GIS (Geographic Information Systems) using ArcGIS Desktop 9.1.
