2 levels of membership are available:

Full Member ($100.00/year*)

Benefits:

  • Serial holdings are included in a regularly updated union list of serials.
  • Receive a copy of the biannual union list publication, Journal Holdings of the National Capital Area, with granted copyright permission to reproduce up to 3 copies for internal use. (view sample pages from 15th edition)
  • Receive a copy of your individual library holdings that are included in the union list.
  • Quick response to your ILL requests.
  • Networking opportunities available through the Association meetings, newsletter and workshops.

Responsibilities:

  • Limited to established libraries.
  • Your library must hold a minimum of 30 separate journal titles.
  • Members must agree to allow access to their collections for interlibrary lending and borrowing, usually for no charge. This reciprocity allows members to gain access to specialized collections often closed to outsiders.
  • Members must agree to update their holdings for inclusion in the IUA list as requested prior to each edition of the union list publication.
  • Interlibrary loan items shall not be used for profit.


NonReciprocating Member ($300.00/year)

defined as one that does not provide a listing of serial holdings to IUA as a condition of membership and is not included in the biannual IUA union list.

Benefits:

  • Receive one copy of the biannual union list publication, Journal Holdings of the National Capital Area. (Not granted release of copyright to reproduce this volume) (view sample pages from 15th edition)
  • Three staff members can attend the annual Workshop at no cost above annual membership dues.
  • Receive Association newsletters and other information related to periodical holdings of new or incumbent Full Members.
  • NonReciprocating Member may be charged for the loan of materials or the provision of journal articles, based on the stated policy of any Full Member.

Responsibilities:

  • Interlibrary loan items shall not be used for profit.


Annual Fees

Full Member* $100.00
NonReciprocating $300.00

*Full members are charged a one time data processing fee of $100.00 to input their holdings in the IUA union list.
