KAP Fiction Prize at the University of MarylandThe winners of the annual graduate student poetry and fiction competitions sponsored by the Creative Writing Program in English of the University of Maryland read from their works in May 2005. Heidi Jon Schmidt served as judge for the Katherine Anne Porter Fiction Prize. Emily Chiles won the award with a piece entitled "Waiting." Honorable mention was awarded to "Stuck" by Dave Adams and to "When Heaven Falls" by Mark Keats. The Porter Prize was established with an endowment from the Literary Trust of the Estate of Katherine Anne Porter, during the tenure of the late Isabel Bayley. |
