The Center for Media and Public Affairs CollectionProcessed by Jamie BushApril 1999 The Center for Media and Public Affairs Collection highlights "Talk Radio" programming from 1995 and 1996 and contains 1400 audio cassettes. The rise in politically conservative radio programming has been a major development in commercial radio over the last fifteen years. These tapes feature prominent practitioners of the craft, such as Rush Limbaugh, G. Gordon Liddy, Michael Reagan and Oliver North. The Library of American Broadcasting has processed 270 programs of "The Rush Limbaugh Program" recorded off-air (WMAL-AM, Washington, DC) between 10/2/1995 and 11/7/1996. The Rush Limbaugh Program aired from 12:00PM to 3:00PM, Monday through Friday. Many of these recordings do not contain the entire 3 hour broadcast. Also, many were recorded at a slow speed for which we do not have playback equipment. If a researcher wishes to gain access to these specific programs, an additional conversion fee will be charged. In either case, the recording length and speed for each program are indicated in each specific record. Other "Talk Radio" programs included in this collection but not yet processed are: G. Gordon Liddy, Tom Leykis, Don Imus, Michael Reagan, Chuck Harder, Oliver North Michael Jackson, Dan Pierce, Mike Siegel Neal Boortz, Ken Hamblin, Jan Mickelson and Mark Davis. Included with this collection is a selection of the "Talk Daily" newsletter, a publication of Adams Research, Inc. which provides daily highlights of leading national talk shows. Each program record will indicate in the notes field if "Talk Radio" is available for that program date. This collection was donated to the Library of American Broadcasting in March of 1999 by the Center for Media and Public Relations. Updated April 2003
