The Library of American Broadcasting is pleased to announce a generous donation
by Jerry Lee of Philadelphia, PA, to digitize the Library's photographic holdings.
Mr. Lee, who is the president of WBEB-FM
in Philadelphia, has a long-standing interest in digital technologies, and sees this
collection of digital images as a way of making the visual history of broadcasting --
radio in particular -- available to students around the globe.
The Jerry Lee On-Line Photo Archive:
A Visual History of Broadcasting provides researchers with a
representative sampling of the Library's more than 250,000 photographs of images
from radio and television history.
To date, the photographs have been sorted into the following groups:
- Actors
- Announcers
- Comedians
- Disc Jockeys
- Musicians
- Vocalists
- the radio program, Vox Pop
As the project continues, more subjects will be added, such as: studio equipment, stations across the country, microphones, children's programs and hosts.
Please note that the photographs available here are only a small portion
of the entire collection that the Library owns. If you don't find exactly
what you are looking for, please contact us and we will be happy to search
for the image that is most likely to suit your needs.
