American Drug Index .
Location: McKeldin Reference RS51 .A512 2005
Provides information on the use of prescription and over the counter drugs. The indexing lists generic names, but cross-indexing allows finding drugs when the major ingredient is the known.

USP Dictionary of USAN and International Drug Names .
Location: McKeldin Reference Stacks RS55 .U58 2004
Provides basic drug information including the year in which the proprietary name was adopted.

Merck Index: An Encyclopedia of Chemicals, Drugs, and Biologicals. 13th edition.
Location: Chemistry Reference and McKeldin Reference RS51 .M4 2001
Provides chemical names, structural formulas, and use of chemicals and drugs. Use the proprietary Name Index in the back of the book to locate descriptive paragraph information on each drug.

Physician's Desk Reference . 58th edition.
Location: McKeldin Reference RS75 .P5 2004 The PDR includes information from annual updates of drug manufacturers'package inserts. Neither Drug inclusion nor information about their uses are comprehensive in the PDR. Consult other sources named above if the drug you are researching is not in the PDR.

Journal Articles

BIOSIS Previews , 1970 -present. UM only
Provides access to the peer-reviewed journal and other literature in the basic life sciences, biomedical sciences, and pharmacology. Use BIOSIS Previews to locate journal articles (primary literature) on pre-clinical data.

PubMed , 1969 -present.
Provides access to the peer-reviewed journal literature and other documents in biomedicine. You can limit your search to primary research articles published about clinical trials for the drug under investigation. Click on Limits, then select "Clinical Trials" from the "Publication Type" menu. This search should retrieve literature published about the drug under investigation during phases 1-3 in the clinical trial period.
