MEES 608N: Ecological Economics Student Seminar

Web page created by Gerri Foudy, Social Sciences Team, UM Libraries

MEES 608N is managed by the Ecological Economics Student Group (EESG), a voluntary association of UM students. Other EESG activities include: disseminating information about local talks, workshops and events relevant to Ecological Economics; community building among those interested in Ecological Economics at UM and the surrounding region; promoting student advancement by providing information on educational and employment opportunities; and serving as a resource to those who wish to pursue an education linking Ecology and Economics.

The seminar is designed to provide a forum for students, faculty, and practitioners to learn and discuss current topics in Ecological Economics. Cross-disciplinary dialogue is strongly encouraged * participants come from the AREC, BEES, BMGT, CONS, GEOG, GVPT, MEES, and PUAF departments, as well as from the surrounding communities.

Participation is open to all, though those registering for course credit are usually working toward masters or doctorates in the following areas: Natural Resources, Sustainable Development, Ecological-Economic Modeling, Renewable Resource Management, Conservation Biology, Environmental Policy, Social Policy, Geography, Political Science and Agricultural Economics.

The seminar meets on alternate Fridays from 12:00-1:30 pm, in Room 1107 or 1113 (PUAF Lounge) on the first floor of the School of Public Affairs, Van Munching Hall, University of Maryland, College Park.

The University of Maryland Libraries have many resources that will help with research for your MEES 608N seminar. If you need additional information, please contact Gerri Foudy, Social Sciences Team, or or speak with a Reference Librarian at McKeldin Library's Service Plus Information Desk.

Because of licensing agreements, access to bibliographic databases and electronic journals is restricted to UM faculty, staff, and students. These may be accessed from off campus; consult Remote access for further information.
