Transliteration Tables (Hebrew, Yiddish, Russian, etc.)
This link is to the scanned text of the 1997 edition of the "ALA-LC Romanization Tables: Transliteration Schemes for Non-Roman Scripts," approved by the Library of Congress and the American Library Association. These tables were developed for use when the consistent transliteration of non-Roman script (e.g. Hebrew) into the Roman alphabet is needed, for example, in order to catalog non-Roman materials.

Electronic Resources
The world's largest electronic collection of Jewish texts in Hebrew ever recorded, which embody thousands of years of Jewish learning. Responsa Literature - rabbinic case-law rulings which represent the historical-sociological milieu of real-life situations; the Bible, the Talmud and their principal commentaries; works about Jewish law and customs; codes of Jewish law, such as Maimonides' Mishneh Torah and the Shulchan Aruch with its principal commentaries; midrashim, Zohar, etc.
Also available on CD-Rom, Bar Ilan’s Judaic Library [electronic resource] : in a class by itself-- : plus Responsa & Encyclopedia Talmudit.
This site eventually will include the entire Yerushalmi in the format of audio classes. Much of the Yerushalmi has already been uploaded. The website also contains much additional helpful material and links concerning Talmud Yerushalmi.
This project brings together images of major Talmudic manuscripts from libraries throughout the world enabling one to view and read the actual manuscripts as they were written.

The databases below are selected for their relevance to research in the areas of Jewish Religion and Jewish history in general. Depending on your specific topic you might need to consult other databases in a variety of subject areas. Please see the complete list of databases by subjects in Research Port.
Bibliography of articles in the various fields of Jewish studies and in the study of Eretz Israel. Material listed in Rambi is compiled from thousands of periodicals and from collections of articles - in Hebrew, Yiddish, and European languages.
Articles, essays, and book reviews in over 1550 journals and multi-author works dealing with religious and theological scholarship. International in scope and language coverage. Covers all types of religions. Excellent coverage of Judaism.
This database is very general and multidisciplinary in nature. Provides abstracts and indexing for over 7,000 journals. Full text of articles for over 4,000 scholarly publications, including more than 3,100 peer-reviewed publications. Thus one needs to be mindful if the article you get is scholarly or not.
Covers issues in women's studies including feminist theory and history, family, mental & physical health, prejudice & gender discrimination, law & legislation, employment, religions, etc.
Provides comprehensive indexing and abstracts for 400+ international art publications, including periodicals, yearbooks, and museum bulletins. The Avery Index to Architectural Periodicals database offers a comprehensive listing of journal articles on architecture and design, including bibliographic descriptions on subjects such as the history and practice of architecture, landscape architecture, city planning, historic preservation, and interior design and decoration.

You can find them by the title of the journal (not the article). If you are in the initial stages of your research, and don't have a list of articles to look up yet, we recommend that you search databases first.
