Acta Sanctorum. . . January-November, 1863-1931.Propylaeum. . . Novembris et Decembris, 1902, 1940.
DescriptionThis microfiche collection consists of the scholarly lives of the saints edited by the Belgian Jesuit community called the Bollandists.
The volumes are arranged by the months in which the saints are commemorated, from January through November. There is an index of saints' names for each month and a cumulative index at the end of the Acta Sanctorum.
The Acta Sanctorum was conceived in the 17th century as a means to purge the lives of the saints of the numerous apocryphal details that surrounded them. It developed over the years into a scholarly work covering all the saints and drawing on manuscripts and documents from many different countries. Index/GuideNo separate index.
