Description
This is a microfilm collection of books, portfolios and pamphlets about architecture and related subjects published in America between the Revolution and the end of the nineteenth century. These publications, primarily builders' guides and house pattern books, influenced the architectural production of their day because their many plates were of direct practical usefulness to builders and carpenters. Some descriptive works, such as guide books, are also included. This collection is essential for the study of American architectural history.
The microfilm edition follows the same sequence as the listing in the Hitchcock bibliography, which is alphabetical by author and then title.
