Description
This collection of 7,114 photographs, compiled by the American Committee for South Asian Art Archive, brings together photographs from several large private and institutional collections. It covers the Kushan and Gupta periods and Gandhara.
Photographs are divided into two main sections:
- Part 1, Kushan Period Caves, Gupta Period
- Part 2, Gandhara
As the most important criterion for this project was to assemble as many photographs as possible, certain concessions were made with respect to image quality. As well, the format or the amount of technical information provided varies due to the diverse me,hods of the various contributors.
