Deloynes Collection: Documents on the Fine Arts

Description

This microfiche collection consists of over 2,000 items including pamphlets, manuscripts and salon and exhibition catalogs pertaining to French art between 1675 and 1808.

For the most part the volumes are organized chronologically. Each salon catalog is accompanied by critiques, lampoons and appreciations. The last volumes of the collection are arranged thematically.

The collection consists of documents pertaining to French art in the Old Regime, the Revolution and the Empire. Also incIuded are Diderot's pioneering essays in art criticism; competitions, prizes and juries (1770-1804); the exhibitions at the Palais du Luxembourg (1688-1808); biographies of painters and the exhibition of Industrial Art (1806).

The original documents are presently housed in the Department des Estampes of the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris.

The first frame of each microfiche provides a table of contents for the entire fiche. The catalog of the complete collection, which is a 224 page alphabetical index of names and subjects prepared in 1881 by G. Duplessis is also included.
