Automated Access: The English Short Title Catalogue (ESTC), searchable as a file on RLIN BIB (Eureka), contains the records of titles in Early English Books, which may be identified by running a search and then limiting the records to microfilm. To limit, click on the LIMIT button; click on down arrow key in the box that appears, click on OTHER,then click on NOTE. Click on box labeled VALUE and type the word "microfilm". Then click on the APPLY button.

Titles also have separate entries with microfilm reel numbers in the online catalog. To do a subject search in VICTOR, do a word search entering subject keywords first; then add "Early English Books":

Description

This collection reproduces selected titles from the Wing Short-Title Catalogue. Only those items which have been located by the compilers are included.

Titles are not being filmed in the order in which they appear in Wing's Short-Title Catalogue. Instead they are filmed as they are located in various libraries.

The index to the microfilm set, REF Z2002.U58, provides microfilm reel numbers and position numbers for the titles in the set.

For titles located in the Wing catalogue one can use volume 9 of the microfilm index, REF Z2002.U58. (which includes Wing numbers and corresponding microfilm reel/position numbers to determine if a particular title has been microfilmed and if so, its reel/position number. If the Wing number does not appear in volume 9 of the index, be sure to check the paperback reel guide cross index (shelved next to the microfilm index REF Z2002.U58) for more recently microfilmed titles. This microfilm collection is a continuing project.

Items appearing on reels 228-266 are selected from the Thomason Collection of The British Library. These items are arranged and identified by Thomason number. Some of the Thomason tracts appearing in this section are not included in the Wing catalogue. They are listed by Thomason number on pages 7250-7267 of volume 9 of the microfilm index (REF Z2002.U58.)
