DescriptionThe General Correspondence consists of original dispatches and reports from British diplomatic and consular representatives abroad. It also includes letters from foreign missions in Britain and from individuals, as well as drafts or copies of letters sent from the Foreign Office. Some of the conferences covered were held at Aix-la-Chapelle, Hanover and Venice.
The list of reel contents is located at the beginning of reel one. The items listed have reference numbers which appear on the reel boxes for easy location. For the most part, the material is in chronological order.
Correspondence of the Duke of Wellington, the Earl of Bathhurst, the Earl of Liverpool and
Viscount Castlereagh is included. For a catalog of the Records of the Foreign Office from its
