Histoire Litteraire de la France
DescriptionThis detailed history of French literature begins with the earliest period and continues into the fourteenth century. It includes some articles about literary forms, subjects and movements, but consists primarily of biographical and critical articles about individual authors, many of whom are not treated in other histories.
The history proceeds in chronological order. A table of contents precedes each volume of text. Indexes for some volumes appear at the end of the volumes. Exceptions: The index for volumes nine through fifteen appears in volume fifteen; for volumes sixteen through twenty-three, it is in volume twenty-three; for volumes twenty-five through thirty-two, it is located in volume thirty-two; and for volumes thirty-three through thirty-eight, the index is included in the final volume.
