Islam-Fiche is a collection of selected readings chosen from published and unpublished sources to reflect the chronological, geographical, and linguistic diversity of Islamic societies. The materials included, all of which are in English translation, range from pre-Islamic poetry to the theology, philosophy and science of the pre-modern empires to the history, politics, and literature of recent times.
The selections are arranged topically in one of a total of 20 categories (EX. poetry, theological text, political and governmental writings, etc.). The index must be consulted for title, author or subject access to the selections.

The index provides access to the collection through the following

The index also includes an abstract of each item included in the collection.
Each selection contains the following explanatory material: a critical introduction to the text selection and its author, notes on the text and its sources, and study questions and suggested further readings.
The initial collection of selectTons represents only one-fifth of the materials currently prepared for publication in the Islam-Fiche series. As permission is secured for reproduction of further selections, additional fiches will be issued.
