Description

The three-volume index provides access by street, building, and subject. It includes a list of contributing photographers and agencies. Nearly all photographs are dated.

The collection is organized into seven groups. The first five are arranged by boroughs: The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Richmond. The last two are organized according to topics: General Views and Subjects, which includes occupations, recreation, social conditions, transportation, etc. Microfiche are consecutively numbered. Each item is accompanied by a descriptive annotation which appears immediately after the photograph on the fiche.

An alphabetical index for reels 4-10 is included on roll 10.

Reel one of the microfilm offers a detailed description of the collection as well as the inclusive dates of correspondence found on each reel.
