Description
The Turner Bequest consists of 19,331 watercolors, pencil, and pastel sketches reproduced from the sketch books and folios of J.M.W Turner. The Bequest came to the British Museum in 1856 under the stipulations of Turner's will.
Microfilmed in order of the catalog by A.J. Finberg, 1909. Where possible, items omitted from the first 39 reels have been noted and appear on the annotated index. These items appear on the last four reels of the set.
"The present microfilm terminates with Section CCCLXXVII; the remaining sections, which consist of extremely large drawings, have not been reproduced."
