Description

This collection contains documents gathered by the Commission on Wartime Relocation and Internment of Civilian for its review of the circumstances surrounding the decision to intern civilians during World War II.

Materials are arranged after the internal locator system devised by the Commission during its investigation.

The guide to this collection must be used for access. It contains a subject index.

These materials are contained in Record Group #220 of the Fiscal, Judicial and Social Division of the National Archives and Records Center.

The numbering system of the Numerical Files Archive is keyed to the final report of the Commission entitled Personal Justice Denied.

Documents are included in this collection from the War Department, the Army, the War Relocation Authority, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Department of Justice, the Department of the Treasury, the Office of Naval Intelligence, the National Security Agency and the Congress. In addition, the papers of officials involved in the project are contained herein.
