Location: Art Library
Call Number: Microfiche Z921.L6V525 1983a

Description

The V & A houses the world's largest and most comprehensive collection of books, periodicals and exhibition catalogs on subjects related to the arts. The Subject Catalogue to this collection provides over 1.5 million entries with cross references to many of the more than 1 million titles. It contains entries for all material accessioned since 1934. Almost two-thirds of the entries are for publications in languages other than English.

The catalog is divided into four main sections:

1) General alphabetical sequence
2) Fine Art & Archeology
3) Applied & Minor Arts
4) Book Art

In addition to the A-Z general Subject Catalog, there are a number of special subject sections the headings of which are based on the principles of art historical research. The periodicals associated with each special subject appear at the end of each section as does a list of related exhibition catalogs.
