Lee Polk
1923-1993
From 1970 to 1972, Lee Polk directed children's television programming at National Educational Television. He continued directing children's television programs at ABC from 1972 to 1976. He served as executive producer of Wonderworks, a public television series for children, and won an Emmy for the Wonderworks program “Ann of Green Gables” in 1986.
Polk held numerous other executive posts in broadcasting over the years and served as president of the New York chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. At his death on February 19, 1993, Lee Polk was president of Polk Communications, and independent television production company based in Manhattan.
