Lawrence T. Frymire

Lawrence T. Frymire has been in public broadcasting since 1941, working in various positions, including Program Manager and manager of WKAR radio at Michigan State University, two years as Chief of the Federal Communications Commission's Educational Broadcasting Branch, ten years in various executive posts in public television in California, Illinois, and New Jersey. At the time of the interview, he was Executive Director of the New Jersey Public Broadcasting Authority

In this interview, Frymire mostly talks about WKAR in the 1940s and 1950s. He also discusses the activities of the FCC Educational Branch and offers some observations on early attempts at tape networking in public radio.
