From 1950 to the date of this interview, Robert C. Hinz was a member of the staff of KOAC, Corvallis, Oregon, and of the Oregon Educational Public Broadcasting Service. He was a member of the original CPB Radio Advisory Council, and also served on the NPR Board of Directors.

In this interview, Hinz discusses the early history of KOAC and KOAP-FM, Portland, as well as the development of statewide public broadcasting services for Oregon. In addition, he discusses the early planning work of the Radio Advisory Council and some of his experiences on the NPR Board.
