Eastern Educational Television Network (EEN)

Administrative History/Information:
- Representatives from WGBH (Boston, MA), WENH (Durham, NH), the Massachusetts and New Hampshire State Departments of Education, and the Ford Foundation met in 1959 to discuss ways to interconnect stations in the Northeast.
- Incorporated in December 1960 as the Eastern Educational Network (EEN)

- In 1961, EEN contracted with the U.S. Office of Education to form the Northeastern Regional Instructional Television Library project.
- In 1967, EEN began sharing programs via live interconnection while maintaining the traditional tape exchange.
- Became the Eastern Educational Television Network (EEN) in 1970
- EEN began a distribution service called the Interregional Program Service (IPS) in 1980.
- In January 1992, EEN became American Program Service (APS), a program distribution service, based on the IPS, while keeping the name EEN for regional services.
- In 1999, American Program Service became American Public Television (APT)
