Administrative History/Information:

  • On December 7, 1922, Oregon Agricultural College was granted a license to broadcast on radio station KFDJ
  • First broadcast: January 23, 1923
  • Call letters changed to KOAC: 1925
  • Early programming included:
    • lectures
    • music and student variety programs
    • reports of athletic events
    • annual commencement exercises
  • until 1932, part of Oregon Agricultural College
  • KOAC-TV established: 1957
  • In 1981, the State System of Higher Education divested its radio and television stations. The stations became Oregon Public Broadcasting
