Administrative History/Information:

  • Bremer Broadcasting Corporation applied for and received a permit to construct a station (WATV) to serve Newark, NJ (1946)
  • Atlantic Television Corporation, successor to Bremer, transfered station WATV to National Telefilm Associates, renaming station to WNTA (1958)
  • FCC approved transfer of WNTA to Educational Television for the Metropolitan Area (ETMA). Station renamed WNDT (New Directions in Television) (1961)
  • WNDT merged with National Educational Television to become WNET/Thirteen (1970)
