• Iowa State College physics professor "Dad" Hoffman rigged transmission line: 1911
• First transmission in Morse Code from Iowa State as station 9YI: 1912
• First non-code broadcast: November 21, 1921
• WOI receives license and transmits first regular broadcast: April 22, 1922
• Andy Woolfries began "The Music Shop": 1925 -- still on air today
• WOI-FM became one of the first stations in Iowa to transmit with FM: December 1, 1949
• WOI-TV begins: 1954
• WOI-FM began stereo broadcasts: 1955
