- School of Dramatic Arts and Speech started a "wired-wireless" station on the Athens campus: 1942
- WOUI-FM (precursor to WOUB-FM) signed on the air as the first FM station on any Ohio campus and the third in the nation: 1949
- WOUB-AM began: 1957
- WOUB-TV began: 1962
