1921:

  • 9YI first non-code broadcast: November 21, 1921 (early WOI history)

1922:

  • KOAC (Corvallis, OR) as KFDJ is licensed to Oregon Agricultural College
  • WRM begins broadcasting from University of Illinois (early history of WILL)
  • Grover Whalen persuades Queens Borough President to call for creation of a Municipal Wireless Broadcasting Station (early history of WNYC)
  • Wisconsin's 9XM changes call letters to WHA
  • WOI receives license and transmits first regular broadcast: April 22, 1922

1923:

  • The National Education Association establishes the Department of Visual Instruction (DVI) (early history of AECT)
  • KBPS is licensed to Benson Polytechnic School with call letters KFIF
  • KOAC's first broadcast (still as KFDJ)

1924:

  • CONY changes call letters to WNYC
  • WNYC begins broadcasting at frequency 570

1925:

  • KFDJ changes call letters to KOAC
  • WOI program "The Music Shop" begins - still on air today

1927:

  • Lisle L. Longsdorf:
    • Head, Department of Extension Information, Kansas State College Extension Service
    • Station Manager, KSAC (1927-1953)

1928:

  • WRM changes call letters to WILL

1929:

  • Frank E. Schooley: Assistant to Publicity Director/Assistant in Journalism, University of Illinois: (1929-1948) - became first full time employee at radio station WILL
  • WNYC starts first program of recorded classical music, "Masterwork Hour"
