1930:
- Institute for Educational Radio/Television annual conference begins at Ohio State University (July)
- Jansky & Bailey is founded
- KFIF changed call letters to KBPS
- WILL-AM begins
- John C. Crabbe: starts first broadcasting degree west of the Mississippi at the College of the Pacific, Stockton, California while working there (1937-1958)
- A. James Ebel: Chief Engineer, WILL (Urbana, IL) - designs station's first FM transmitter
- Frank E. Schooley: Executive Secretary, National Association of Educational Broadcasters (1937-1943, 1952)
- WNYC becomes an independent city agency
1938:
- National Association of Educational Broadcasters persuades the Federal Communications Commission to reserve five radio channels for educational broadcasting
- Morris S. Novik: Director, WNYC (New York, NY) (1938-1946)
- Oscar Reed: Broadcasting engineer, Jansky & Bailey, Consulting Broadcast Engineers (1939-1984)
- WNYC broadcasts the New York World's Fair (1939-1940)
