Audio Collection

The bulk of the audio recordings in the National Trust Library are recordings of the NTHP annual conferences, dating from 1974 to 2003. Please contact NTL staff to access these materials for listening.

Many of these materials can be reviewed through printed conference programs or other publications that resulted from conferences. Check the University Libraries’ Catalog or consult with NTL staff for help locating these materials.

There are also a handful of audio recordings on obsolete or fragile tapes. As of this writing, these tapes have not been screened recently by NTL staff, but a preliminary inventory exists. Subjects covered seem to mirror the video collection, with audio recordings of conferences and workshops, press coverage, public service announcements (radio spots), and recordings relating to historic properties. Access to these materials may require reformatting.

The Audio collection is currently broken into three groups:

• Audio Conferences
  1980-2003 (95 albums, 87 loose tapes, 11 boxes)

  Audio recordings from NTHP Conferences from 1980 to 2003 (1987 missing). See inventory.

• Archival reel-to-reel audiotape
  1954-1982 and n.d. (26 items)

  Unprocessed archival collection containing sound elements from films, interviews, radio spots, and early conference proceedings. Significant persons in recordings include Weeks Hall, Susan Stamberg, and Lady Gosford. There are also recordings about National Trust Properties Chesterwood and Wilson House.
