NTL Audiovisual Collections

Scope and Content

When the library of the National Trust for Historic Preservation was donated to the University of Maryland, the contents of its audiovisual library were included in the gift. These collections include a large historic postcard collection, films, videos, audio recordings, slides, and photographs of historic sites and preservation activities dating from the inception of the Trust in the late 1940s to the donation of the library in 1986. After 1986, these collections continued to grow at a slower pace through donations from media-producing divisions of the National Trust, and from historic sites and preservation programs throughout the country.

The audiovisual collections at NTL are in various states of accessibility. The collections have been divided by format, and more information about each group of materials, its content and its accessibility is available through the links below. Please contact the National Trust Library for more information about how to conduct research in these collections.
