Sascha Gorodnitzki

Sascha Gorodnitzki was born in Kiev, Russia in 1905. He came to the U.S. at a young age and was taught by Percy Goetschius, Rubin Goldmark, William J. Henderson and Krehbiel at the Institute of Musical Art. While at the Juilliard Graduate School, he was a pupil of Josef Lhevinne. Gorodnitzki also taught at the Juilliard Summer School. He would remain on the Juilliard faculty until his death in 1986. From his beginnings as a child prodigy through his lengthy teaching career, Gorodnitzki was recognized as a virtuoso pianist and an "electrifying" and "exciting" performer.
